Did you know that an eagle knows when the storm is approaching long before it breaks?  The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come.  When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm.  While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.
The eagle does not escape the storm.  It simply uses the storm to lift it
higher.  It rises on the winds that bring the storm. When the storms of life
come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above          them  by setting our minds and our belief toward God.  The storms do not  have to overcome us.  We can allow God's power to lift us above them.       God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness,
tragedy
, failure, and disappointment in our lives.  We can soar above the    storm.  Remember, it is not the burdens of life
that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

---- On a personal note from me, Ashleys mom. I think this is true.  However,  i do NOT think we can EVER rise above the loss of a child this is a fact.  But I can and have to have faith knowing she is ok and I will see her one day again on gods time and Ashleys time.   I think it all depends on how we handle this rollercoaster ride, this horrible rollercoaster ride that we know as grief.  I do want to say I think Ashley would want me to be ok and happy.  I will do my very best to do what I know Ashley  would want me to do.   She never wanted to see me sad, I will smile, love and live and take care of her brothers to the best I can.   I love you my bean, and i will do my best to make you proud of me on this earth.
Loving you forever and ever Mommy

Thank you to my friend Marie, for sending this to me.  I immediately knew it was meant to be on the page of a bereaved parent.

~From Healing After Loss
by Martha Whitmore Hickman

I am not mad; - I would to heaven, I were, for then, 'tis like I should
forget myself.  O, if I could, what grief should I forget!
~William Shakespeare
Grief has indeed pushed men and women over the edge into insanity.
sometimes we may have felt this way ourselves; If I could only go
crazy....anything to get away from this terrible consciousness of loss.
Fortunately, such moments pass.  If we have been close at all to the lives
of the mentally ill, we know this is no reprieve from suffering.
And if at times of extreme stress we have felt as though our own
safeguards to reason and reality are blurring, we know that slipping away
from reality is no pathway to peace of mind and heart - any more than
overindulgence in drugs or alcohol is a valid way to deal with sorrow.
But we understand the impulse, and nod in grateful recognition when we
read of others who have had similar feelings.

~Knowing I have company in my struggle can help me see my way through.

My Prayer

Take away the pain
that cuts like a knife,
 And lead me to a place
where there's peace in my life,Only You Lord,
can heal my pain,
So that I can live
and be happy again.
I have been as faithful
as I know how,
 But Lord I need You
so much now,
 To show me all
that You can do,
 Help me please
to see this through.
Whatever You tell me
I'll do my best to obey,
 And until I hear clearly
what You have to say,
 I'll try to hold
my head up high,
 And not give up,
just silently cry.
You are the Almighty,
Omnipotent One,
 Who loved me enough
to give me His Son,
 In exchange for Your love,
I give You all of my pain,
 Lord help me to live
and be happy again.

Sometimes we suffer physically,
other times emotionally.
No matter what the cause,
pain is pain.
 But God's word promises:
"Blessed are those that mourn,
for they shall be comforted."
Matthew 5:4

~~ A Face in the Clouds ~~

I looked toward the clouds today
and for a moment saw your face
And wondered just where you have gone
with the hope it's a peaceful place

Did you show yourself to me today
to tell me you're all right?
Or was it just a daydream
playing tricks upon my sight

Then I thought of when you left
still too young to say a word
Yet the look you gave us said it all
in our hearts, your good-bye was heard

You have changed our lives forever
your short time here not in vain
and hope you know we tried it all
to keep you safe from pain

We will always feel the void inside
because you are not here
But each new thought you send our way
let's us know you're always near

So until our journey nears it's end
and we hear the Angels sing
We'll face each new day as it comes
and live off the Love you bring.

~~~~~~James Sullivan
The Mention of Her Name
"The mention of my child's name
May bring tears to my eyes,
But it never fails to bring
Music to my ears.
If you are really my friend,
Let me hear the beautiful music of her name.
It soothes my broken heart
And sings to my soul."
Be Reminded by Kathy Hines
When you look to the twinkling stars in the midnite skies,
Be reminded of the sparkle in her eyes.
When you hear the music of the morning birds,
Be reminded of her sweet voice when she spoke her words.
When you see the glory of a rose touched by the morning dew,
Be reminded of the beauty you saw when she smiled at you.
Although she was taken from this world much too soon,
Be reminded of her when you gaze upon a soulful moon.
When your heart hurts because of your undying love,
Be reminded that she is still with you, an angel above.
When you're missing her so much you feel it is tearing you apart,
Be reminded...she is with you... in that very special place...
In your heart.
I've noticed that it hurts too much....
I've noticed that it hurts too much
to see such a lovely day.
The grass is green, and the sky is blue.
It hurts too much to enjoy.
I've noticed that it hurts too much
to see such a rainy day.
The thunder is rolling, and the wind is whipping.
It hurts too much to enjoy.
I've noticed that it hurts too much
to see a snowy day.
The trees are bare, and the ground is white.
It hurts too much to enjoy.
I've noticed that it hurts too much
to celebrate a holiday.
Friends laughing, relatives reminiscing,
It hurts too much to enjoy.
Time, they said. Time will heal you.
Time doesn't heal you.
Time only marks the days,
that hurt too much
to enjoy.
THANK YOU JULIE,
for letting me put your poem on Ashleys page.
Pain is my greeter in the morning
Emptiness; the feeling inside
Sadness ; my daily companion,
Loss is the one I can't hide.
Guilt is the one who takes my hand,
Anger is the one I push away,
Anguish is the one who won't leave,
Missing my child every day.
Regret is my constant reminder,
Memories; my two-faced friend,
Dreams are the only things left,
At each and every day's end.
But......
Pain is measured by depth,
By a love that was equally true,
Emptiness is the huge space that was left, That will always be home to you,
Sadness will always be with me,
A companion who spells out your name,
The loss of you etched in my heart,
But my love for you always the same.
Guilt will always remind me of you,
It will mold me, and fill up the hole.
The anger will spill out like poison,
And redeem my forgotten soul .
Regret is a way to hold onto
The child that I hold in my heart.
Memories are like gentle kisses,
Through Dreams two souls meet,
not to part..
NO words or gestures would ever suffice,
There could never have been enough love,
For the child that I love more than words,
My sweet angel in heaven above.
